Tuition Fees
This is a letter i wrote to my MP about the proposed raise in tuition fees. I urge everyone else who reads this to do the same!

I have become increasingly worried over the previous months about the state of tuition fees. Many people that i know from school are already unable to attend university due to the costs involved. I myself come from a slightly more priviliged background, and my parents can afford to help me. As a disabled student, however, i am unable to find work to support myself, meaning that i have had very large financial problems already, and i am only half way through second year!
If these top up fees are introduced, then less people will be able to go to university -unlike the increase in people that the government was aiming to have in previous years, and it will ruin many people's chances at a good start in life. My cousin, for example, after leaving university had several thousand pounds debt. I do not know how long it takes to pay these off, but it inhibits the ability to buy houses and raise families, as we need to work more and more to be able to repay all the debt that is caused. The Government should be investing in its next generation, as it is us that will be the government in 10-20 years time. If, instead, everyone is unable to attend university, and unable to become as well educated as they could otherwise be, then how can we expect our nation to grow or to be successful in the future. Academically, we are going to fall behind the rest of the world, and Britain will be thought of, not as a nation of greatness, but as a nation of money grabbing dunderheads.
Although i am only 20 at the moment, i do want to be able to have a family. This may, however, be postponed if tuition fees go up, not to mention that i may be unable to send my children to university, and to give them the oportunities that i was able to have as a child. We all know that grants have left us forever, but to increase tuition fees this much means dividing the nation into a class system again, which we were at last beginning to recover from.
If you have ever had children, want grand children, or know anyone with children -think about their future and their ability to be educated. I urge you to vote against tuition fees.
Thankyou for your time.
